WattUp Mid Field: wireless distance charging WiFi type will be possible in 2018
Wireless distance charging will be possible in 2018 and the FCC has already approved it. The
American startup Energous has announced a revolutionary device called WattUp, a transmitter that
converts electricity into radiofrequency waves that are transmitted through the air to the different
devices that are in its frequency radio, which receive them through a receiver that are connected.
Same as WiFi in terms of the Internet, but with power to recharge the mobile in the place where we
leave it (and as long as it is within its range), the WattUp Mid Field transmitter is capable of
transmitting energy at a distance of 1 meter , a scope superior to chargers like the Pi, limited to 30
centimeters by using the Qui standard. The best thing about WattUp is that it allows you to recharge
not only one, but several devices at the same time, so we can be with the laptop and at the same time
have the mobile phone, the tablet, the smartwatch and the mobile phone also receiving energy and
without the sea of cables that would entail. Energous has achieved that after months of testing, the
American FCC approves its technology, which is a huge step in itself. At the moment the range is 1
meter, and it is necessary that the device has a receiver. But this is because the technology is
relatively new. The goal now is to miniaturize the energy receiver and to include it by default in all
electronic devices that come to market in the short- to medium- term future. For this, Energous has
wanted to make an open and non-proprietary system, so that its WattUp becomes an industry standard
that goes the same in the Galaxy S10 as in the iPhone XII, in a Xiaomi laptop or in a mouse gamer
Mars Gaming.
